A Mini Guide to Laser Cellulite Removal
With a reported 90% or more or women experiencing cellulite to some degree or another, the need for a "miracle" cure has never before been so strong. In the words of a fellow writer, Liz Krieger, said:
"They say you don't get out of this life alive, but for women, one might add 'and without cellulite.'"
Did you know that American women spent almost 13 million dollars on anti-cellulite/firming/un-dimpling lotions and potions designed to help in the fight against cellulite? That's an astonishing amount!
When you think about it, a lot of that money wouldn't have been spent if the women had just found a "REAL" anti-cellulite treatment that actually works. Maybe that thing is laser cellulite removal?
It's all very good and well-being told that a good diet, lots of exercise and plenty of massaging with a good, high-quality moisturizer will stop you getting cellulite. You could even be told that there are certain "magical" foods that encourage the smoothing-over of this "ugly" condition. The fact of the matter is that sometimes ladies, your diet, exercise patterns and beauty regimes aren't enough to stop this from happening.
There are other factors that are often the root causes for cellulite. Genetics for example, could determine whether or not you get cellulite. If your mother and grandmother had it, there is a good chance you are going to get it. You have a greater chance of getting it than someone who's mother and grandmother didn't have cellulite anyway.
The chances of you getting cellulite are also greatly increased as you get older which again, is something you can't exactly control. There is a layer in your skin called the dermis and this layer is at its thickest (and therefore looking its best) when you hit about thirty years of age. After this point, the connective structural tissues holding the dermis together start to loosen with the loss of collagen and elastic fibres. When other cells move into the spaces made by this structural loss, you get cellulite. It's one of those things your body does as you age and as we've said, there's not much you can do about it.
Hormones can often have a part to play in cellulite too. Certain 'changes of life' can lead to growth spurts and raging hormones (like during puberty) and many women find they get more cellulite when they are going through the menopause also. Just blame the hormones.
Now you can see - sometimes it doesn't matter what you do, you might just be prone to getting cellulite.
Perhaps this is why new types of laser cellulite treatment are creating such a buzz? Could this really be the answer to all of our cellulite problems, creating the end for cellulite-busting leggings, lotions and potions that are ridiculously expensive and make us feel slimy and weird?
Let's just take a closer look at what we know so far...
The product called Cellulaze (often used in laser cellulite removal) is FDA approved. We get off to a flying start!
It's the first approved product out there to successfully manage to beat cellulite with a one-off treatment.
Collagen production tends to increase as a rather impressive side effect of the procedure, which means that you are going to look more youthful for longer and your skin is going to be super healthy too.
It can cost upwards of five thousand dollars. This is a negative for many of us unfortunately, but think about it on a positive light - soon there will be a new and improved version of this cellulite treatment and things will get cheaper as more companies develop the products.
Only using a local anesthetic, which means that you are awake throughout the entire procedure, you will have a minimally-invasive type of surgery that involves lasers being inserted into pockets or incisions made in the skin. That laser will heat up essentially melts the fat around it. The bands that cause the cellulite are released (the bit that pulls on the skin and causes the cellulite) and when this happens, you lose the dimpling effect associated with the condition.
It can take anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour plus for the full procedure to take place and you should again be reminded that you will be awake throughout the entire procedure. You're probably going to have a lot of bruising for a while afterwards and there is likely to be some swelling too. Then there are the little leaks to worry about... The incisions are probably not going to stay as closed as you wish they would.
Despite the negatives, after around 12 weeks you'll find that things start to look better with a lot of the initial post-surgery side effects having gone down almost completely. Over the course of the next year, you will find that things definitely improve and for around a year or two after that, you will remain cellulite free. If you make sure that you eat healthily and well and combine this with a decent amount of exercise, you could help to get rid of cellulite for good.
Maybe there is a way you can beat cellulite?
